Foreign Minister of Timor-Letse, Adaljiza Magno. Timor-Leste will celebrate the Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence of this Sunday.

Bissau, 25 November 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste, Adaljiza Magno attended the Welcome Reception hosted by the Finance Minister of Guine-Bissau, Dr. João Alaje Mamadú Fadiá. The event was organized at Cabafistra, Bissalanca, Bissau.

Ties with Guinea-Bissau

Guinea-Bissau is a tropical country in West Africa. It is located on the Atlantic coast and is famous for its wildlife and national parks. Timor-Leste enjoys strong ties with Guinea-Bissau. Both countries are accredited to each other through their respective foreign ministries.

The two jointly collaborate in the economic, social, cultural, technological, technical, scientific, and petroleum sectors for mutual benefit. Guinea-Bissau has ample untapped petroleum resources.

Informal Meeting with Australian Ambassador to Portugal

Whilst there, Foreign Minister Adaljiza Magno also met with Claire Rochecouste, who is the Australian Ambassador to Portugal, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé & Príncipe.

Meeting with CPLP Executive Secretary 

Aside from that, she held an informal meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), Zacarias Albano da Costa. The two discussed the latter’s experience of the first semester on his mandate. previously, she also visited the headquarters of CTBTO in Vienna, Austria.

The CPLP is also known as the Lusophone Commonwealth. It is a political association and international organization of Lusophone nations. Lusophone nations means the nations where Portuguese is an official language. They are Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, Brazil, Timor-Leste, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Macau and, Goa.
