Islamabad, 11 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed Robert Dussey, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Togo. This is the first-ever visit of the Togolese official to Pakistan.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reiterated the longstanding and cordial ties of Pakistan with Togo, which were founded on mutual trust and shared interests.

He emphasized the intent of Pakistan to strengthen economic, trade, and investment ties with Togo as part of the government’s vision for expanding engagement with the African continent.

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan also praised Togo’s contributions to promoting peace and stability through important multilateral forums such as the United Nations, African Union (AU), and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Whereas Foreign Minister Dussey on his part underscored Togo’s desire for deeper engagement with Pakistan, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, as well as security.

Along these lines, he appreciated Pakistan’s assistance in building the capacity of Togolese diplomats and hoped that similar training opportunities could be provided to Togo’s security personnel in the future.

Both parties agreed to strengthen the legal and institutional framework for high-level bilateral political engagement and people-to-people exchanges, as well as to work closely together at the UN and the OIC.

Moreover, the Foreign Minister of Togo will also meet with parliamentary leaders, other dignitaries, a long with members of the business community during his visit to Islamabad.
