Foreign Minister of Pakistan meets Tajik President

Dushanbe, 25 August 2021 (TDI): Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, had a meeting with Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

Both parties highlighted a variety of issues concerning the development and expansion of bilateral cooperation between two countries. During the meeting, the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to Tajikistan was discussed.

Both parties also paid close attention to some contemporary international and regional issues, particularly the current situation in Afghanistan.

Tajik President emphasized that his country strongly opposes all forms of persecution of Afghans, particularly Tajiks, Uzbeks, and other ethnic minorities. He stated that Tajikistan will not recognize any Afghan government formed as a result of oppression.

He also offered a variety of ways to Pakistan’s Foreign Minister for guaranteeing peace, stability, and future sustainable development of Afghanistan.
