Islamabad, 29 June 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, held delegation-level talks with Yang Jiechi in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Yang Jiechi is a Member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and the Director of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC.

Director Yang Jiechi was accompanied by Vice Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Commerce, Vice Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and Deputy Secretary General of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

The two sides discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest

Earlier on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan announced the visit of the dignitary.


Moreover, it was shared that during the two-day visit, the Director would hold talks with the Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and call on the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif.

The visit is part of the regular high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China. Recently, these exchanges included a virtual meeting between the Foreign Ministers on 11 May 2022; Prime Ministerā€™s telephone call with Premier Li on 16 May 2022; and Foreign Ministerā€™s visit to China on 21-22 May 2022.

Significance of the visit

The statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan stated that the visit reflects the importance attached by Pakistan and China to further deepen their ā€œAll-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnershipā€, reaffirm mutual support on issues of each otherā€™s core interests, enhance economic engagement, explore new avenues of bilateral cooperation for the betterment of the two peoples, advance high-quality development of CPEC, and coordinate positions on important regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The visiting dignitary also met Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif.
