Islamabad, 2 January 2023 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, extended felicitations to the new acting Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov.
Bilawal expressed his desire to work together to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
Acting Uzbek Foreign Minister
Shavkat Mirziyoev, the President of Uzbekistan, has signed a decree naming Bakhtiyor Saidov as the Central Asian country’s next Foreign Minister.

In connection with the new appointment, Saidov was relieved of the post of Minister of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the decree of the head of state, Vladimir Norov was relieved of his post as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with his transfer to another job.
Saidov had worked as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to China, Mongolia, and the Philippines, with residence in Beijing.
Previously, Abdulaziz Komilov was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan by applicable presidential orders in early 2022. In April, he was named the President’s Deputy Secretary of the Security Council for foreign policy and security affairs.
Vladimir Norov was appointed as Uzbekistan’s first Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was tasked with the responsibility of the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. In September, Vladimir was confirmed as Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations
Both countries established relations in 1991. It was when the Republic of Uzbekistan became independent following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
However, ties have improved since the Taliban’s demise. Following that, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expanded Uzbek outreach to regional countries.
Notably, accessing seaports at cheaper costs and shorter distances is a decades-old problem that Tashkent is attempting to tackle.
Pakistani ports could be the answer, and Uzbekistan has recently attempted to strengthen ties with Pakistan.

The project would provide Pakistan with rail access to markets in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Currently, only marine routes facilitate these trading links.
