Ankara, 18 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, is currently on an official visit to Turkiye, and during the visit, he met his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu.

The meeting between the two diplomats from Turkiye and Kyrgyzstan was part of the Joint Strategic Planning Group. After the meeting, both the Foreign Ministers held a joint press conference in Ankara.

During the press conference, Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister noted that this was his first official visit to Turkiye since assuming office. He further said that his meetings in Turkiye were very productive.

Foreign Minister Kulubaev mentioned that relations between Turkiye and Kyrgyzstan are at the highest level. He further highlighted that relations between Turkish President Erdogan and Kyrgyzstan’s President Japarov are intensively developing.

Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister also referred to Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s expected visit in near future to Kyrgyzstan. He also said, “I hope that by end of the year we will reach the level of mutual trade of one billion dollars”.

Kyrgyzstan’s top diplomat highlighted Turkiye’s support as well and said “Since independence, Kyrgyzstan has been supported by Turkiye”.

In a landmarks statement, Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister said “We want to open up to the world through Turkiye”.

The Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan also mentioned that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He said, “Since independence, Kyrgyzstan has constantly felt the support of Turkey, some shortcomings in the relations will be eliminated as a result of negotiations at the government level”.

Russia-Ukraine War

Foreign Minister Kulubaev said Kyrgyzstan attached great importance to the Ukrainian-Russian war. Minister Kulubaev also appreciated President Erdogan’s role in the Ukraine crisis.

He said, “President Erdogan’s foreign policy in dealing with problems of the world food crisis and steps towards peace in Ukraine makes us proud of your far-sighted policy”.
