Naseerabad, 17 May 2023 (TDI): Food and Agriculture Office Pakistan (FAO Pakistan) collaborated with Agriculture & Cooperative Department Balochistan to distribute rice seeds—the inaugural ceremony of the joint initiative held today.

Asian Development Bank Pakistan office (ADP-Pakistan) and Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and Pacific (JFPR) have generously supported the initiative.

The distribution of rice seeds to the flood-affected Naseerabad division of Balochistan is in response to the food security project.

This initiative would help small farms holders in Naseerabad Division. Naseerabad division was badly affected by the flood in 2022.

FAO Pakistan has ensured transparency and quality at each step. This initiative would build resilience and empower communities for sustainable growth.

FAO implements a wide range of development and emergency assistance projects in Pakistan.

At the 2023 ECOSOC Forum held in April, the initiative to invest in food & agriculture was discussed. It is an effective strategy to alleviate poverty, fight hunger and boost productivity. Also, it accelerates the transformation of the agricultural food system.

Naseerabad Division is an administrative division of Balochistan, Pakistan. It is an irrigation & agricultural division of Balochistan. It was among the worst-hit areas of Pakistan in the 2022 flood.
