European states congratulate Iran’s new President

Tehran, 7 August 2021 (TDI): Several European states, including Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, France, Croatia, Britain, Serbia, and Switzerland have sent separate messages congratulating Ebrahim Raisi on becoming the eighth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo wished the new President good luck and expressed their willingness to develop relations with Iran in their messages.

The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ivica Dačić met with Raisi and stated that Serbia is an independent country having an independent foreign policy.

 

“We believe that Iran and Serbia have a lot of common interests in the economic field,” he added while exhibiting his desire to strengthen bilateral relations between the two states. To this President Raisi confirmed that the two states share deep relations in different fields.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko also met with the newly elected president. In the meeting, he claimed that Belarus wants to establish comprehensive and all-inclusive relations with Iran.

He further condemned the US sanctions on Iran calling them ‘unjust’, asserting that they serve as a hindrance in the development of relations between the two states. However, he confirmed that Minsk is committed to boosting cooperation with Tehran through more coordination.
