Islamabad, 4 November 2022 (TDI): European states condemned the assassination attempt on Imran Khan on 3 November 2022, during a Long March towards Islamabad.
Khan was in the middle of a day-seven statewide tour during which he conducted rallies and urged for the holding of early elections before next August. The “long march” was scheduled to end in Islamabad, after beginning in Lahore on October 28.
The European States condemned the attack and expressed utter dismay at such heinous crimes. European Union’s (EU) Ambassador to Pakistan, Riina Koinka said “Political violence in any form, in any country, undermines democracy and decency.”

France also condemned the attack and extends its wishes to PTI’s Chairman and members, “We strongly condemn political violence in all forms.

The Embassy of Belgium in Pakistan also tweeted, “The attack on Imran Khan and his supporters is totally unacceptable. Belgium strongly condemns violence in any form. We wish a speedy recovery to all who were injured”.

All states renounced any kind of political violence in the democratic states. They labeled it as an attack on democracy.
The Czech Republic stated, “Trying to replace dialogue and discussion with violence and shooting is wrong. Wishing Imran Khan, Faisal Javed, and all other injured a speedy recovery.”

Italy extended its wishes to Pakistan, “We strongly condemn the heinous attack on Imran khan and his companions. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and we wish a swift recovery to all those injured.”
Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth & Development Affairs, Lord (Tariq) Ahmad of Wimbledon said, “Deeply shocked to hear of the attack on Imran Khan. A thriving democracy is a key to an inclusive & progressive society.
Violence is never the answer. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Imran and his family at this time”.

Attack on Imran Khan
International outrage has been expressed in response to an attack on Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan, which his supporters claim was an attempt at assassination.
After being wounded in the leg on Thursday during a protest march in Wazirabad, in the country’s northeast, Khan, 70, is making a full recovery in the hospital.
In the assault on his convoy, one person was killed and at least ten others were hurt.
But according to Imran Khan’s team, his condition is stable, and he may be allowed to go in the next few days.
His party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), issued a statewide protest call after the shooting on Thursday. In Islamabad, the country’s capital, schools have been closed.
