Brussels 24 July 2021 (TDI): European Commission, this month presented new proposals on energy, transport, and taxation under the European Green Deal to meet its 2030 climate targets. The plan’s stated goal is to make the European Union the “first climate-neutral continent” in the world by 2050. To realize this, the member states have promised to reduce emissions by 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
The proposed policies of the plan aimed at transforming the European economy and societies, creating sustainable industry, making Europe the leader of the third industrial revolution, producing clean energy, building greener lifestyles, protecting biodiversity, and boosting global climate action.
These proposals will not only significantly create opportunities for innovation, investment, and jobs but will also improve population health and wellbeing, curb inequality and energy poverty, and increase competition among European companies.
