Islamabad, 07 August 2021 (TDI): Ambassador of the European Union to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Androulla Kaminara condemned the attack on Ganesh Mandir at Bhong in Raheem Yar Khan District. On Wednesday, a Muslim mob attacked the Mandir and destroyed it. The attack took place after the bail relief of an eight-year-old Hindu boy who was accused of disrespecting a religious Muslim school. The mob damaged the statues and burned the main gate of the mandir. The mob said the boy had been arrested on charges of intentionally urinating on the carpet in the Madrassa library and committing blasphemy, an act punishable by death in Pakistan.
Ambassador Androulla Kaminara stated that the attack on religious sites is a condemnable act and against the laws of human rights. Freedom of religion is a fundamental right. The Ambassador further asserted that all the culprits who were involved in the act of damaging the mandir should be punished and prosecuted according to the law.
