Rawalpindi, 31 January 2022 (TDI): Androulla Kaminara, the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Pakistan called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan at General Headquarters today.

The agenda of the meeting between the two officials was to deliberate upon matters pertaining to the mutual interest as well as regional security situations including the prevalent situation in Afghanistan.

In addition, prospects to enhance bilateral collaboration between the European Union (EU) and Pakistan were also discussed during the meeting. Ambassador Androulla Kaminara lauded the role played by Pakistan in the Afghan situation.

Pakistan has been proactively helping Afghanistan by undertaking various ventures to assist international humanitarian efforts ever since the Taliban took over Kabul, subsequent to US withdrawal.

Furthermore, Pakistan has helped in the evacuation of approximately 20,000 foreign citizens as well as Afghan natives from the wartorn country. What’s more, it has devised a conduit in the form of an air and land bridge so as to direct emergency supplies to the destitute country without any hindrance.

More recently, Pakistan also hosted a summit of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) member states to deliberate upon the dire Afghanistan situation along with exploring the options of possible resolution of the crisis.

Ambassador Kaminara, moreover, also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to ensure regional stability during the meeting. Likewise, she committed to play her role for further progress for mutual benefit in diplomatic collaboration with Pakistan in all spheres, as well.

Androulla Kaminara has been serving as the Ambassador of the EU to Pakistan ever since September 2019. During her ongoing outstanding tenure in Pakistan, she has been the champion of women empowerment, interfaith harmony, children’s right as well as human rights.

In this regard, she recently inaugurated an art exhibition in Islamabad to promote awareness amongst the youth of the country along with advocating relevant opportunities across the board.
