Estonia, Germany celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations

Berlin, 18 August 2021 (TDI): The PM of Estonia, Kaja Kallas is on an official visit to Germany to celebrate the 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two states. During her visit, she met German Chancellor Angela Merkel and German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz.

The matters under discussion during this meeting were centered on bilateral ties between Estonia and Germany, international issues such as the situation in Afghanistan, European policy, and economic affairs. Angela Merkel said that the EU should provide protection and take in the vulnerable people of Afghanistan as a top priority after the government shift in Kabul. In addition, they also assessed the regional security situation in Ukraine and Belarus.

Issues of development, technology, green economy, climate change, and European integration were also discussed. The PM Kallas praised Chancellor Merkel for her leadership of Germany for 16 years and expressed gratitude for 30 years of friendly and diplomatic relations between the countries.
