Washington, D.C, 24 June 2023 (TDI): The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C. hosted a highly interactive and engaging session between the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and the members of Pakistan and American communities.

The event provided an invaluable opportunity for the individual of both communities to connect, exchange ideas and foster bilateral relations among them.

Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Tarar

Azam Nazeer Tarar is a lawyer by profession and a bar representative. He is a politician who has elected to a technocrat seat from Punjab in the Senate of Pakistan in March 2021. Currently, he is holding the office of Federal Minister for Law and Justice.

This platform allowed the attendees to engage directly with the esteemed Minister and discuss a range of topics encompassing law, justice, and the promotion of bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States.

He acknowledged the significant role played by the Pakistani diaspora in promoting Pakistan’s interest in the international arena and also underscored the mutual values and goals that unite both of nations.

This engagement witnessed insightful discussions on legal reform, access to justice and the importance of upholding the rule of law. The participants of the meeting enthusiastically shared their ideas and perspectives, raising pertinent questions and offering suggestions that would aid to further enhancing the justice system in Pakistan.

However, the interaction act as a catalyst for promoting cultural exchange and understanding between both communities. Attendees expressed their appreciation for Minister’s efforts to foster ties and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the two nations.

As the session concluded, he reinforced Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining a robust justice system and enhancing access to justice.

Meeting with Professor Sarah H.Cleveland

Federal Minister Azam Nazeer also had a productive conversation session with Professor Sarah Cleveland, U.S. candidate for the election of the International Court of Justice (2023-2024).

This meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views and discuss matters pertaining to International law and justice. Both parties engaged in a comprehensive discussion on various legal issues of mutual interests, exploring potential avenues for collaboration and promoting the advancement of international law.

They both underscored the significance of multilateralism, the protection of human rights, and the peaceful resolution of disputes through legal means. The productive conversation between Federal Minister for Law and Justice and Professor Cleveland exemplified the importance of fostering dialogues and collaboration in advancing the principles of international law.
