Dar Arrives In Beijing for Talks on Iran War and Bilateral Ties

Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Beijing on Tuesday on a one-day official visit, where he is scheduled to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss developments related to the Iran war as well as broader bilateral relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Office confirmed that the visit is taking place at the invitation of Wang Yi and noted that this marks Dar’s second trip to Beijing this year. During the visit, both sides are expected to review Pakistan–China relations and exchange views on key regional and international issues of mutual concern.

In a statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated that China and Pakistan share an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership built on mutual trust and consistent communication. She added that both countries maintain similar positions on major global issues and regularly coordinate on matters of regional importance.

Mao further expressed confidence that the two foreign ministers would strengthen coordination on issues such as the situation in Iran, and work together to promote peace, encourage dialogue, and support regional stability.

Dar’s visit comes shortly after Pakistan hosted a quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad involving foreign ministers from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. The talks focused on reducing tensions between the United States and Iran and encouraging diplomatic engagement.

Following that meeting, Dar indicated that Pakistan could potentially host negotiations between Washington and Tehran in the near future. He stated that he had briefed visiting ministers on the possibility of such talks being held in Islamabad, and said the proposal received strong support from the participating countries.

He also expressed Pakistan’s willingness to facilitate meaningful dialogue between the two sides, describing it as an effort toward achieving a comprehensive and lasting resolution. According to him, both Iran and the United States have shown confidence in Pakistan’s role as a neutral platform for dialogue.
