Cuban President Receives Vietnamese Counterpart

La Habana, 20 September 2021 (TDI): Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received the Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, in the Revolution Palace on September 19. Vietnamese President is on an official visit to Cuba.

Both mandataries agreed that this visit reaffirms the friendship and brotherly ties that unite these two socialist countries, forged by Fidel and Raúl Castro and Ho Chi Minh. Both Presidents manifested their will to preserve political dialogue by promoting political cooperation in every sphere and coordinating their position in international organizations. Díaz-Canel acknowledged the solidarity of Vietnam with Cuba.

President Xuan Phuc stated that he was grateful for the opportunity to visit Cuba for the first time. Phuc praised Cuban developments in Health and Biotechnology. Phuc also expressed his gratitude for the Cuban cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, expressed through the supplies and technological transference.

Cuba granted Xuan Phuc the National Order Jose Marti for his contribution in strengthening the ties between the two countries. During the visit, both parties signed the Joint Declaration and multiple agreements to align the relation into a new stage of development.
