Santiago de Cuba, 20 September 2021 (TDI): The Norte Juan de la Cruz Martínez Maceira children’s hospital in Santiago de Cuba received a donation of medical supplies from Barbados and Spain on Saturday. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez expressed gratitude towards both the states for helping Cuba tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
To show solidarity with Cuba in the face of Covid-19, Barbados and Spain gifted numerous medical supplies to a children’s hospital in Santiago de Cuba, including gloves, sanitary masks, caps, protective gowns, and other essential resources required for the treatment of pediatric patients. The non-governmental organizations named MediCuba-Spain and the Ernesto Che Guevara Solidarity and Development Association gifted colectomy bags, needles, and trocars essential to the medical institution.
The head of International Relations of the Public Health Directorate of Santiago de Cuba, Hector Luis expressed a tremendous amount of gratitude to the donor countries for such a warm gesture. He further added that sanitary materials are essential to tackle Covid-19 and to help maintain the sustainability of Cuba’s health system.
