San Jose, 4 September 2021 (TDI): Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado Quesada expressed his gratitude towards the Canadian government for donating 319,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to help Costa Rica tackle the severity of Covid-19.

President Alvarado tweeted on Saturday announcing the arrival of 319,200 AstraZeneca doses to Costa Rica from Canada, under the COVAX program. He thanked the sister state Canada in particular, for helping the Costa Rican government deal with the Covid-19 pandemic by donating tremendous amounts of vaccines to the country.

It has become Costa Rica’s week with the most vaccine doses received in 2021 so far, according to Alvarado. However, the virus continues thriving in Costa Rica, at an estimated death rate of 1.2%.
