Toronto, 8 December 2021 (TDI): On Sunday, the Consul General of Pakistan to Toronto Abdul Hameed, attended the 14th annual dinner organized at the one-hundredth anniversary of NED University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET) in Canada. This dinner was organized by the NED Alumni Association Canada (NEDAC).

The Consul General while interacting with the Alumni and staff members at the event, expressed gratitude over the completion of 100 successful years. Abdul Hameed pointed out an important lesson that should be learned from the selfless donation that was made by Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw for the university. In 1921 Nadirshaw donated 150,000 PKR, and the university was named after him.

NEDUET

NEDUET is one of the oldest engineering universities in Pakistan. It is situated in the urban areas of Sindh. The foundation of the college was laid by the Prince of Whales but due to the insufficient funding and resources, Bombay University refused to grant affiliation to the college.

However, some contributors donated money to keep the college running, of those contributors one was Nadirshaw who made a huge contribution and later as an honor and admiration the college was named after his memory. And in 1977 the government of Sindh promoted the NEDUET from a college to a university.

NEDUET has been producing a great number of efficient engineers in Pakistan who are contributing to the development of the country.

NED Alumni Association Canada (NEDAC)

In 2006 the NED Alumni Association was established to accommodate the NED graduates living in Toronto. This association provides graduates with networking opportunities. This association is regarded as the largest International NED community for Alumni in the world.
