OIC-COMSTECH and Chad Sign Agreement to Enhance Scientific Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): In a significant step toward advancing scientific collaboration within the Muslim world, OIC-COMSTECH and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training of Chad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in science and technology.

The agreement was formally signed by M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH, and Reounodji Frederic, General Secretary of Chad’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Vocational Training.

The MoU establishes a comprehensive framework for technical assistance and capacity building, with a particular focus on supporting Chad’s research institutions and fostering industrial development.

Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will collaborate on a range of initiatives designed to enhance scientific capacity and professional skills in Chad.

These include research fellowships for Chadian scholars, specialized technical training programs for laboratory personnel, and industrial internships aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry.

The objective is to cultivate a new generation of researchers and technical experts equipped with practical knowledge and global exposure.

A key component of the partnership is the modernization of local research infrastructure. OIC-COMSTECH will facilitate the exchange of medical expertise and provide technical services to help upgrade laboratory facilities and improve operational standards.

By strengthening laboratory systems and introducing updated technologies, the initiative seeks to create a more robust and competitive scientific environment within Chad.

Joint workshops, seminars, and scientific events will also form an integral part of the collaboration. These platforms are expected to foster knowledge sharing, promote networking between scientists, and provide Chadian researchers with improved access to international scientific resources and expertise.

Through these engagements, both institutions aim to elevate technical standards and encourage collaborative research projects that address pressing socio-economic challenges.

The MoU reflects a shared commitment to sustainable development through science, technology, and innovation. For Chad, the partnership represents an opportunity to accelerate institutional growth, enhance human capital, and strengthen its research ecosystem.

For OIC-COMSTECH, it aligns with its broader mandate to promote scientific cooperation among member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and to reduce disparities in technological advancement.
