COAS met Turkish Defence Minister

Ankara- June 23, 2021 (TDI)- Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, went for an official day-long visit to the Republic of Turkey on Wednesday.

Upon his arrival, the Army Chief was presented with a Guard of Honour by a Turkish Military contingent.

As reported by the ISPR, the Chief met with the Turkish Defence Minister, Gen. Hulusi Akar (Retd). The Commander of Turkish General Staff, Gen. Yasar Guler, and the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, Gen. Umit Dundar, were also present in the meeting.

The dignitaries discussed the matters of mutual interests, regional security situation (including recent developments in the Afghan Peace Process), and bilateral defense and security cooperation in various fields.

General Bajwa acknowledged the Turkish engagements with Pakistan especially the ongoing efforts for continuing the positivity for peace in the region. He also emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between the two countries. Turkey is one of the key Muslim countries in the region and the enhanced cooperation will have a positive impact on regional peace and stability.

The Turkish dignitaries commended Pakistan’s positive role in regional peace and stability. They also pledged to continue working for better relations between Turkey and Pakistan.
