Beijing, 13 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese President, Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. The occasion was the anniversary of fifty years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Evolution of China-Rwanda Ties
China and Rwanda established diplomatic relations on November 12, 1971. Ever since, the friendly cooperation between the two is thriving. It has seen favorable progress.
President Xi lauded the steady evolution of China-Rwanda ties over the fifty years. During the half-century relation, China and Rwanda have maintained friendly cooperation and deepened exchanges in a multitude of fields. Consequently, the relation has improved the well-being of the Chinese and Rwandan peoples.
Joint Collaboration
Most recently, the two have supported each other and worked together to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. Xi Jinping stressed that the bilateral ties between the two countries are very important for China. China is willing to further enhance cooperation with Rwanda via Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. This will inculcate profound political trust.
President Paul Kagame, on his part, reiterated that the strong cooperation between the two partners stems from common philosophy of solidarity, mutual respect, win-win outcomes, and mutual benefit.
Forum on China-Africa Cooperation
China has supported Rwanda through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and other platforms. It has played a positive role in the process of national transformation of Rwanda. Rwanda aims to deepen the ties between the two partners in a wide array of fields.
