Dakar, 1 December 2021 (TDI): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister met with Liberata Mulamula, the Foreign Minister of Tanzania. The two counterparts met on the sidelines of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Dakar, Senegal.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations. Chinese Foreign Minister stated that their forefather established bilateral relations between the two countries. The relations between the two sides have strengthened with time, he added.
He emphasized that Chinese President Xi Jinping elected Tanzania as the first country for his official visit to Africa after taking the office. He said that the Chinese President’s priority to visit Tanzania determines the importance of Tanzania in Chinese diplomacy.
Wang Yi highlighted that the sides will use the opportunity of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC to enhance their cooperation.
Liberata Mulamula congratulated China on the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). She also felicitated China on the 50th anniversary of the restoration of its lawful seat in the United Nations.
Tanzanian Foreign Minister welcomed Chinese President’s vision on China-Africa Cooperation
The Tanzanian Foreign Minister appreciated the initiatives announced by the Chinese President in the opening ceremony of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC. She stated that those initiatives will help to deepen the relations between the two sides.
Liberata also emphasized the bilateral relations between Tanzania and China. She stressed that the two countries are sincere and old friends. She stated that Tanzania is looking to expand its cooperation and unity with China. Tanzania is committed to supporting China on issues concerning Chinese core interests, she added.
She pointed out that Tanzania is willing to expand cooperation with China in the fields of infrastructure, economy, and trade, and exchange governance experience with China for the social development of Tanzania.
Wang Yi underscored the role of the CPC in the development of China. He stated that the Chinese people are united for the progress of China. He stressed that China will not share its development process with anyone but it will try to help the developing countries by providing them useful references from the Chinese experience of development.
The two counterparts were in Dakar, Senegal to attend the 8th Ministerial meeting of the FOCAC. They agreed that FOCAC is the best opportunity for the two sides to strengthen their relationship. China has been one of the biggest trading partners of the African continent. China aims to help Africa in its social and economic development. Chinese projects of the Belt and Road Initiative in Africa; and FOCAC are part of its vision of African development.
