Chinese FM scheduled to attend several meetings on East Asian cooperation

Beijing, 2 August 2021 (TDI): Chinese foreign minister FM Wang Yi is scheduled to attend several different meetings on East Asian cooperation, from 3rd August to 6th August. FM Wang Yi will attend the meetings at the invitation of Haji Erywan, the FM of Brunei and chair of ASEAN.

The Chinese Ministry spokesperson informed that FM Wang Yi, via video calls, will attend several meetings including the ASEAN-China Ministerial Meeting, the ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers Meeting, the Eastern Asian Summit of Foreign Ministers, and the ASEAN Regional Forum.

The meetings will focus on Chinese aims of deepening pandemic cooperation, economic recovery, the practice of real multilateralism, and expanding cooperation in sustainable development between the ASEAN states.

The ministry spokesperson also mentioned that China on the occasion of the 30th China- ASEAN relationship will urge the regional states to work jointly to tackle regional challenges and to ensure regional growth, peace, and security.
