Kabul, 6 November 2021 (TDI): The acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, Wang Yu. The meeting took place in Kabul.
During the meeting, the two discussed bilateral relations and trade, particularly the export of Afghan pine nuts. Recently a consignment of pine nuts reached China from Afghanistan. This will boost trade ties between the two states. They also discussed the meeting of Afghan and Chinese counterparts in Qatar last month.
Apart from that, the Afghan Foreign Minister pointed out the need for visa facilitation for Afghan nationals. In response, the Chinese Ambassador affirmed that visa facilitation would be ensured for the Afghan people.
Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed gratitude to Wang Yu for his role in strengthening ties between China and Afghanistan. The two countries are steadily expanding joint ventures.
Ever since the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, the Afghan Taliban have assumed the role of government. The war-torn country is going through a humanitarian crisis because of the long-drawn War on Terror.
Owing to its foreign policy of maintaining peaceful ties, China has been helping the ragged country to survive the turmoil. China aims to ensure the security and stability of Afghanistan because it’s related to the regional stability and prosperity. A peaceful region is beneficial for all the states.
