Rawalpindi, 19 January 2022 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the Army General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi.
The agenda of the meeting between the two officials was to deliberate upon matters pertaining to mutual interest, regional security situation as well as measures to further improve bilateral collaboration between China and Pakistan.
Pakistani COAS, during the meeting, stated that Pakistan remains committed to cooperating with its international partners for the sake of establishing peace in the South Asian region.
Ambassador Nong Rong on his part thanked General Bajwa for the special measures taken for ensuring a safe and secure environment for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in Pakistan along with the efforts to guarantee regional stability.
The Chinese Ambassador also expressed satisfaction over the headway on CPEC and reaffirmed the necessity for the timely realization of the remaining projects of the economic venture.
China Pakistan Economic Corridor
China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners that collaborate in a wide array of fields ranging from economy, defense, education, culture, security as well as diplomacy. The two contiguous neighbors celebrated the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, last year.
CPEC is a central as well as pilot project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The leaders of Pakistan and China have attached tremendous significance to the economic venture.
Furthermore, the project has also enlisted across-board support from the two peoples. CPEC aims to supply new opportunities to the citizens along with bringing renewed impetus and vision to the China-Pakistan comradeship.
In addition, it is a systematic and long-term project to boost economic collaboration through partnership on Gwadar port, infrastructure, energy, transportation, and industrial cooperation. CPEC aims to bring tangible benefits to Chinese and Pakistani people.
