China’s Foreign Minister called on COAS

Islamabad, 23 March 2022 (TDI): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, met Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javad Bajwa along the sidelines of the OIC Summit in Pakistan. The visit took place on March 23- The Republic Day of Pakistan.

During the meeting, both sides deliberated upon matters of mutual interest. Besides, the sides discussed regional security and measures to boost bilateral defense collaboration.

In this regard, the Chinese Foreign Minister stated that the Pakistan-China relationship is dependent on mutual respect and common interests. He also applauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Army.

Further, China’s Foreign Minister reaffirmed that the international community should acknowledge the efforts of Pakistan while maintaining regional security and peace.

Along these lines, he applauded security provided to CPEC as well. He further remarked that China believes in inclusivity and togetherness.

It is pertinent to note that the Chinese Foreign Minister is on an official visit to attend the 48th OIC Conference of Foreign Ministers. For the first time, the Chinese Foreign Minister is a part of the OIC summit.

At the OIC Conference, he addressed the opening session and presented China’s position regarding regional and international issues.

In this matter, China’s Foreign Minister highlighted that OIC made a historic decision to discuss the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. Similarly, he pointed out the shared vision and joint strategy of OIC to bring the international community together and find a solution for the emerging challenges.

Similarly, COAS also thanked the Chinese Foreign Minister for attending OIC and visiting Pakistan. He also acknowledged the significance of continued support of China for Pakistan.

In response, Foreign Minister Wang Yi appreciated the role of Pakistan in regional security. He also pledged to play his role to enhance Chinese diplomatic collaboration with Pakistan at various levels.

Above all, he praised the efforts and commitment of Pakistan to host the 48th session of the OIC ministerial conference. OIC summit is ongoing in Islamabad, from March 23 to 24.
