Beijing, 15 March 2024. (TDI): Wang Kejian, the Chinese envoy, recently visited Ramallah in the West Bank on Wednesday, to meet the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad al-Maliki. He highlighted China’s proactive involvement in fostering peace and stability amidst the continuous conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Adding to it, he stated how China has demonstrated a strong will to find a peaceful settlement, which highlights its position as an active mediator in the Palestine-Israel dispute.

China’s Commitment to Peaceful Resolution

China is committed to promoting a peaceful settlement of the conflict. This is evident by the envoy’s diplomatic mission urging for a quick ceasefire and a “two-state” solution.

Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki of the Palestinian Authority held important talks with Wang Kejian when he was in Ramallah. Wang reaffirmed China’s efforts to establish a ceasefire and safeguard people caught in the crossfire.

In the face of rising tensions and humanitarian issues, Wang Kejian’s visit represented a critical milestone in China’s diplomatic efforts to advance dialogue and stability in the area. Wang expressed profound worry over the humanitarian catastrophe and the increasing war in Gaza.

During the envoy’s tour to Israel, China had discussions with prominent Israeli officials. They were Hagai Shagrir and Rachel Feinmesser from the Israeli Foreign Ministry, underscoring the country’s diplomatic involvement.

In addition to this, Wang emphasized the critical necessity of an instant ceasefire. He emphasized the significance of safeguarding people and facilitating humanitarian access in areas of conflict.

Moreover, the Israeli and Palestinian governments have both praised China’s diplomatic efforts. Maliki recognized that China has consistently supported the creation of a state in Palestine.

He supported his stance by exemplifying China’s participation in international forums. Additionally, this included actions such as the filing of the case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

China has pushed for peace, but it has also denounced all types of violence and stressed the necessity of freeing those who are in custody.
