Annual Central Economic Work Conference of CPC was held in Beijing.

Beijing, 14 December 2021 (TDI): Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese President, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission attended the annual Central Economic Work Conference which was held in Beijing.

During the annual Central Economic Work Conference, Chinese leaders charted the priorities for the economic work in the next year. Xi Jinping analyzed the current economic situation, reviewed the country’s economic work in 2021, and set up next year’s economic work.

It was underscored in the conference that China maintained a foremost position in the world; in terms of epidemic control and economic development, with the advancement made in scientific potency, reform, and opening-up, industrial chain resilience, as well as people’s livelihood and ecological civilization.

It was surmised that the economic development of China is facing pressure from supply shocks, demand contraction, and weakening expectations. Furthermore, the external circumstances are increasingly becoming uncertain, complicated, and grim.

The meeting called for an enduring commitment to China’s own cause, enhancing the abilities of technological and scientific innovation, solidifying the economic footings, and sticking to multilateralism.

In addition, it was underscored that China must maintain a proactive stance to align with the highest international economic and trade rules, boosting high-quality development and deepening reform via high-level opening-up.

According to the meeting it was emphasized that adherence to a centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee is the need of the hour. Moreover, promoting high-quality development as well as the pursuit of progress while ensuring stability, should be paramount.

The conference prioritized the significance of stability for the pursuance of economic progress and urged all the territories to take responsibility for stabilizing the macro-economy.
