Ashgabat, 21 May 2024 (TDI): President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed their heartfelt condolences to the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran received condolences following the death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi as a result of a helicopter accident that occurred on May 19 of this year in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran.

Rescue efforts were initiated promptly after President Raisi’s aircraft, carrying him and nine other officials, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, encountered unfortunate circumstances in Iran’s mountainous northwestern region near the Azerbaijan border.

In the wake of this sorrowful event, Turkmenistan stands in solidarity with Iran and its people, offering support and sympathy during this difficult time. The loss of President Raisi is deeply felt, not only within Iran but also across the international community.
