Beijing, 5 February 2022 (TDI): China wins its first-ever Olympic gold medal in the short-track mixed team relay contest. This is a historical moment for China as it has won the first short-track mixed-team relay in the history of the Winter Olympic Games.
The jubilant news was shared by Hua Chunying on her official Twitter account. She is the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Zhang Heqing, the Chinese Counsellor & Director in Islamabad, Pakistan, also took to Twitter to join in the celebrations. He also shared the news about #TeamChina bagging its first gold medal in the Beijing Olympics 2022.

The Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations (UN), Zhang Jun also congratulated the Chinese athlete on winning the first gold medal of the winter sports contests.
Wu Dajing is the athlete who made the first win for the host country. China is hosting the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. This event has made Beijing the first-ever city in the world to hold the auspicious occasion twice.

China’s win came after it nearly missed the final altogether. Italy came second and picked up the silver medal while Hungary stood third and won the bronze medal in the short-track mixed team relay contest.
Pietro Sighel is the Italian athlete to win the silver medal in the competition. The contest was very close. Besides, the debut event was the first short track final of the Beijing Olympics 2022.
