Beijing (TDI): In response to Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba’s recent statement that it is “an extremely important thing for a Japanese Prime Minister to visit China,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said during the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in Lima, Peru, they agreed to maintain high-level exchanges between the two nations.
Recently, high-level interactions between the two states have continued through different means, and the relationship has maintained a momentum of improvement and development.
Mao said that Beijing is willing to work with Tokyo to maintain dialogue and communication across all levels and fields, boost political mutual trust, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, manage differences properly, and jointly strive to develop the strategic relationship of shared benefit.

China wanted to construct a constructive and stable relationship between the two nations that aligns with the demands of the new era, she added.
Japanese media reported on Monday that Ishiba expressed his willingness to visit China, saying that it is an extremely important thing for a Japanese Prime Minister to visit China.

Regarding China-Japan ties, the Japanese PM said that relations must remain strong, as China and Japan are neighboring nations.
He noted the two nations will establish a trust relationship and explore each other’s interests.
