Beijing (TDI): China has released a new national human rights action plan for the 2026–2030 period, announcing it at the opening of the 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance.

According to the plan, China aims to ensure that the “principal position of the people” is respected and that citizens’ basic interests are protected.

It also emphasizes promoting social fairness and justice, and ensuring that the benefits of modernization are more evenly shared across society.

The document is structured into an introduction and eight chapters and was jointly issued by members of the national human rights action plan coordination mechanism.

The Chinese government noted that its previous 2021–2025 action plan was successfully implemented, claiming it delivered significant progress in human rights protection and contributed to stability in global human rights development.

Officials say the framework reflects China’s continued effort to integrate human rights development with economic and social modernization.

The announcement comes alongside broader discussions at the Beijing forum on strengthening global cooperation in human rights governance and development-focused progress.

The new framework is intended to provide long-term policy direction, focusing on aligning human rights protection with broader economic and social development goals over the coming years.

The plan reflects continued efforts to modernize governance systems while addressing public welfare, equality, and access to development opportunities across different regions.
