China ranks first with six gold medals in Paralympics

Beijing, 6 March 2022 (TDI): Team China is ranking top on the medal table at Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics. This year, Winter Paralympics has enshrined a new era for China.

Liang Jingyi

On Day 1, Team China gave a sterling performance where Liang Jingyi won gold in Men’s Super-G Standing. He crossed the given target in 1:09.11 whereas the runner-up mate, Markus Salcher of Austria, was 0.24 seconds left behind. Canadian athlete, Alexis Guimond, finished line in 1:10.02. The event took on March 5.

Zhang Mengqiu

In Women’s Super-G Standing, Zhang Mengqiu acclaimed gold. Team China has made history with this gold medal of Zhang Mengqiu. Besides, Zhang Mengqiu is a 19 years old athlete who finished the given line in 1:13.54.

On the other hand, French athlete, Marie Bochet settled for silver with a time limit of 1:14:97. Marie Bochet is a legend of Para Alpine Skiing and has won eight Paralympic tournaments.

Para Biathlon
Liu Zixu

In the context of Para Biathlon, Liu Zixu won gold in Men 6KM Sprint-Sitting. He won the first gold for team China.

Guo Yujiw

In the women category, Guo Yujiw secured gold in Women’s 6km Sprint-Standing. Guo Yujiw is a 17 years old athlete who covered the 6km in just 19:43.3 seconds. However, she missed one shot during her rounds in the events.

It is pertinent to note that Guo Yujiw was one of the flag bearers of Team China at the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Para Cross-Country Skiing
Yang Hongqiong

Team China also performed well in the category of Para Cross-Country Skiing. Yang Hongqiong won gold in Women 15 km- Sitting. She clinched the gold and defeated American ace, Oksana Masters, at Beijing Winter Paralympics.

In addition to that, it was the debut match of Yang who is 32 years old athlete. However, she finished the line in 43:6.7 seconds whereas Master covered the 15km in 43:38.3. China’s Li Panpan finished third with a time of 45:17.0

Zheng Peng

Meanwhile, Zheng Peng’s gold medal belonged to Men 18km-Sitting. Zheng won the game with a time of 43:09.2 seconds whereas his teammate, Mao Zhongwu, finished second and settled for silver.
