Phnom Penh, 19 November 2021 (TDI): China has sent the 7th batch of vaccine assistance to Cambodia.
The world is facing an unprecedented challenge in the form of the Coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has brought the countries together. The countries are helping each other because they believe in interdependence.
The developed countries are helping the developing countries to recover from the effects of the pandemic. They know that no one is safe until everyone is safe in the world. This has strengthened the anti-pandemic cooperation between the countries.
With the arrival of the Coronavirus pandemic in the world, China adopted a new form of diplomacy known as Vaccine Diplomacy. Although there have been some historical sources of vaccine cooperation in the past, China’s adoption of vaccine diplomacy has impacted the world unprecedently.
China has been helping the world by providing vaccines against the Covid19 pandemic. It has also been assisting the developing countries by providing financial aid to them against the pandemic. China has provided its self-made vaccines to different countries in different parts of the world.
It has also been assisting its iron-clad friends. Cambodia is also one of its iron-clad friends. China has consistently helped it against the pandemic. The new batch of vaccines containing 2 million doses of vaccines from China reached Cambodia on 17 November 2021. It was the 7th batch of the vaccine provided by China to Cambodia.
Due to the great Chinese help in the pandemic, Cambodia has completed its phase-one vaccine rollout before the schedule. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed gratitude for the Chinese assistance against the pandemic.
He stated that Cambodia has successfully vaccinated at least one dose to 88% of its 16 million population. He said that the Cambodian success against the pandemic is inseparable from the Chinese assistance against the pandemic.
Cambodian Prime Minister pointed out that Cambodia in its fight against the pandemic received 40 million vaccines from the world of which 90% was given by China.
He thanked China for saving the lives of the Cambodian people. He also thanked China for helping Cambodia in its economic recovery affected by the pandemic.
Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian was also present at the ceremony. He stated that China is pleased to help Cambodia in the pandemic by providing vaccines. He also emphasized the Cambodian rate of vaccination which is the highest in the world. The ambassador also expressed the will of China to expand its cooperation with Cambodia in new departments to strengthen the relations between the two states.
