Beijing, 4 December 2021 (TDI): The International Forum on Democracy kick-started today, in Beijing, China. The theme of the forum is “shared human values.” It is hosted by the Executive Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Wang Xiaohui.

The objective of the International Forum on Democracy is to enhance mutual learning, advance development, and boost exchanges between all the countries of the world.
During the forum, the head of the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee, Huang Kunming stated that the persistent devastation of the world because of the Covid-19 Pandemic has increased shortfalls in trust, peace, governance, and development.
The world is concurrently seeking democracy, therefore solidarity, people’s wellbeing, and cooperation should be the end goal. Moreover, social turbulence, separatism, and confrontation must come to an end. The agenda of the forum is to underscore that democracy is not a mere adornment. Instead, it must work for the well-being of the people.
Intellectuals and dignitaries from over 120 countries, regions, and international organizations participated in the event. The event is organized in a hybrid format. The participants shared their thoughts on the origin of democracy, principles, and values. They urged for an approach that stems from multilateralism and cooperation.
Former Prime Minister of Japan, Yukio Hatoyama highlighted that different countries have different social systems. As a result, the focus must be on the common values of development, peace, fairness, freedom, democracy, and justice.
José L. Centella Gómez, the President of the Communist Party of Spain also addressed the participants of the Democracy Forum. He enunciated that the only solution for the prevalent economic crisis and health emergency is to share resources. Cooperation among all the states and peoples of the planet will give the desired outcome.
The attendees of the forum concordantly agreed that democracy should be adopted to cater to modern societies, Furthermore, closer international cooperation is the need of the hour and the only way forward to tackle the prevalent global challenges.
