Beijing, 8 August 2022 (TDI): State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, pointed out the three mistakes the United States (US) had made by allowing US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to visit China’s Taiwan region.

These mistakes include gross interference in China’s internal affairs, support for “Taiwan independence” forces, and intentionally trying to destroy peace across the Taiwan Straits.

US violates China’s sovereignty

Minister Yi said that despite China’s repeated notices and warnings, the US was committed to setting up the visit of the official in the US administration to China’s region Taiwan.

The US administration had openly said that Taiwan is not a part of its territory and is a part of China’s territory. So, the move taken by the US side is a grave violation of Chinese sovereignty.

US supports Taiwan’s independence

Chinese foreign minister said that US actions also assisted and encourage “Taiwan independence” forces. Any state must protect its national unity and must not allow reckless behavior from separatist movements.

The Foreign Minister also said that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), which is now in power in Taiwan, has mentioned getting “independence” in its party platform. The party has aggressively promoted “Taiwan independence” and the creation of “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan” in recent years.

Pelosi stood with the separatists against the Chinese people and openly supported the efforts of the DPP in Taiwan.

US disturbs peace in Taiwan Strait

Wang said, the US intentionally damaged the peace in the Taiwan Straits. The US provoked the crisis first and then used it to achieve its own strategic goals.

Wang highlighted that the US is attempting to execute the same old trick by organizing Pelosi’s visit and using the opportunity to expand its military in the region. It promotes disturbance in the peace and stability of the region.

Wang Yi remarks on China’s countermeasures

US action deserves high resistance from all the parties. Wang Yi, therefore, said that the measures adopted by China are legitimate, reasonable, lawful, necessary, open, and proportionate.

China is trying to preserve its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and prevent the US attempts to use Taiwan to contain China. China is also trying to remove the DPP authority which is backed by the US for its independence plan and upholds regional stability and peace.

Minister Yi also said the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state is the “golden rule” of handling state-to-state relations. It also helped develop countries protect their sovereignty and security.

The Foreign Minister of China thanked all nations for their understanding and backing of China’s position. He also urged all the states to take a strong stance against unilateralism to protect the fundamental principles of international relations as well as the legitimate rights and interests of all developing nations.
