China-ASEAN celebrates 30th Anniversary of Dialogue Relations

June 8, 2021 (TDI): 19th Senior Officials Meeting held between China- ASEAN on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC). The in-person meeting was held with the Special ASEAN-China foreign ministers in Chongqing, Southwest China.  The meeting was co-chaired by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign minister Wang Yi and Teodoro Locsin and the Foreign Secretary of the Philippines who is currently serving as the country’s coordinator for ASEAN-China relations.
The diplomats from both China and ASEAN countries have expressed their mutual interests by creating the most successful example of cooperation in the Asia Pacific region and their desire to maintain regional peace and stability while resolving objecting to any interference by extraterritorial countries.
In the speech, Wang Yi spoke highly of the cooperation between the two sides over the past 30 years and made suggestions for the future development of China-ASEAN relations. The two sides also exchange ideas for the establishment and cooperation in vaccine research and development, production and distribution, to make vaccines more affordable and accessible in the region.
Xu Lipning, director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said China-ASEAN relations are the most successful and we will further elevate the bilateral relations to a better strategic partnership.
