China and Uzbekistan collaborate on poverty reduction

Tashkent, 19 August 2023 (TDI): The Uzbek Minister of Poverty Alleviation and Employment, Behzod Musaev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Uzbekistan, Yu Xiun on August 17.

The meeting was centred on discussing the future course of action jointly to be taken by both countries for poverty alleviation in Uzbekistan.

Moreover, the former steps taken by the Uzbek government in this regard were also acknowledged by the Chinese Ambassador.

Under the initiative of poverty reduction, the Ambassador earnestly appreciated the reforms being implemented by Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

He added that the cooperation between Uzbekistan and China has stepped up to a new stage. Furthermore, the Chinese side welcomed the infusion of the aspect of poverty reduction to the level of state policy in Uzbekistan.

 

Against the backdrop of future approaches, the training of nine thousand and four hundred assistant governors in the country’s neighbourhoods through online training sessions from Chinese experts was highlighted.

The training session will be for two weeks on the topic of “Poverty reduction based on Chinese experience”.

Additionally, two hundred assistant governors will be sent to exchange experience in China as a result of these strong ties.

Similarly, vocational training based on  Chinese experience in marketing and customer communication skills training programs will be launched for the Uzbek population.

The training courses on energy-saving technologies, technical maintenance of electric cars, and training of specialists in the conservation of renewable energy sources will also be organized in cooperation.

Uzbekistan-China joined hands for poverty reduction

The Initiative of poverty reduction by the Uzbek government was announced at the beginning of the year of 2020, and in early October the Chinese assistance to Uzbekistan in poverty reduction kicked off.

The joint research project that was launched in this regard aimed to find solutions to the existing problems of poverty, and gender inequality, and boost employment in tourism in Uzbekistan.

The initiative of poverty reduction in Uzbekistan has brought the two countries to a new stage of cooperation.
