Doha, 10 August 2021 (TDI): Zhou Jian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Qatar, met with Charles Sultana, the Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the State of Qatar. Two envoys discussed current bilateral relations between China and Malta and supported the idea of enhancing these relations.

Ambassador of China encouraged bilateral ties and tweeted his message on Sunday. He tweeted, “Glad to meet with Ambassador of the Republic of Malta Mr. Charles Sultana. Had a pleasant discussion over bilateral ties and our impressions of each other’s country. Looking forward to furthering exchanges between our two sides.”

The meeting is an effort towards what the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi said in December 2020 that the two countries should plan to strengthen mutual understanding and expand cooperation on mutual benefits before the 50th anniversary of official relations between China and Malta. The Foreign Minister of China has also publicized that Malta has a significant geographical location that can be a gateway to Europe for the growing enterprises of China.
