Beijing (TDI): China on Tuesday pledged emergency humanitarian assistance for Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq, citing the worsening humanitarian conditions caused by the ongoing regional conflict.
Speaking at a routine briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian described the situation as causing “excruciating humanitarian disasters” and said Beijing’s hearts go out to those affected.
“China deeply sympathises with the people in the affected countries,” Lin said, adding that Beijing would continue diplomatic efforts to promote peace, facilitate a ceasefire, restore stability in the region, and prevent the humanitarian crisis from worsening.
Meanwhile, Gulf Arab states are urging the United States to intensify its campaign against Iran to neutralize Tehran’s ability to threaten the region’s oil lifeline, according to sources and diplomats cited by Reuters.
