About the Thanksgiving Holiday

Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated in some parts of the world such as Canada, the United States, Liberia, Grenada, and Saint Lucia, to express gratitude towards the blessings of the past year. In the US, it is annually observed every fourth Thursday of November.

The Americans believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the Wampanoag people (native Americans) and English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth.

The holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism, where the traditional meal fare includes turkey, pumpkin pie, potatoes, bread stuffing, and cranberries.

The Pakistani diaspora has also received acknowledgment from the US and Pakistani governments for bringing the people of both sides together, particularly through educational and cultural exchanges.
