CDF Munir Meets Libyan Military Leaders to Boost Defense Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir has concluded an official visit to Libya, where he held meetings with senior Libyan military leaders aimed at strengthening bilateral defense and security cooperation.

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir met Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief. Upon his arrival, a contingent of the Libyan Armed Forces presented a guard of honour in his honour.

In discussions with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the two sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and avenues to expand defense and military collaboration. Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation in areas such as training, capacity building, and counter-terrorism, The Express Tribune reported.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening defense relations with Libya, stressing that cooperation would continue to be guided by shared interests and mutual respect.

In response, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar commended the professionalism and capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces and conveyed Libya’s interest in broadening defense engagement with Pakistan.
