Brazil is focusing on the clean energy sector at COP27. On its part, Brazil showcased the country’s capacity in developing clean energy and becoming the largest exporter of clean energy around the globe.

The country is generating electric energy from renewable energy resources. Brazil with the use of the largest share of renewable resources is making this possible.

Brazil’s Green Energy

Brazil has the potential to make 84% of its national energy from renewable energy resources. This was highlighted by the state at the UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP27).

About 180-Gigawatt (GW) of energy is produced by the state through renewable energy sources. The state also has the potential to turn green hydrogen and green ammonia for trade and export.

The country’s offshore wind tribunes were also highlighted with the capacity to generate 700 GW. This is equivalent to 50 Itaipu power plants. The Itaipu power plant is a hydroelectric plant built in southern Brazil with a partnership with Paraguay.

According to the Environment Minister, “This is what’s so unique about Brazil, and this will be the COP of green energy in Brazil”.

At a time when the world is worried about energy security, investing in green and cheap energy is the best option as it will generate revenue and economic activity as well.
