Bolstering Trade and Investment Cooperation between Bangladesh and Oman

Muscat, 16 September 2021 (TDI): Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat organized a webinar to bolster the development of trade and commercial activity between Bangladesh and Oman.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Oman, Mizanur Rahman conducted the proceedings of the webinar. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, was present as the chief guest in the webinar. The Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of Oman, Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy was also present. The meeting was also attended by officials of the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI), and the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI).

Foreign Minister Momen discussed the investment-friendly environment to develop regional and global supply chains. Over the years Bangladesh–Oman bilateral relations have explored new areas of cooperation beyond the traditional manpower sector. Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs, Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy appreciated the role of Bangladesh in the development of Oman. The officials expressed Oman’s interest to explore new avenues of bilateral trade and investment in food security and technology.

Both sides hoped that the webinar would facilitate the possibility of cooperation. It would help to raise the trade figure and joint investment projects between the two countries. Also, the Chairman of OCCI, Engineer Redha Juma Al Saleh invited a delegation from Oman to visit Bangladesh.
