Bilateral Cooperation Committee established between South Korea and China

Beijing/Seoul, 24 August 2021 (TDI): South Korea and China, marking the 29th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, have established a future-oriented bilateral relations development committee. The purpose of the development of this committee is to boost cooperation in the areas of politics, economy, and culture between the two states.

The Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi and Foreign Minister of South Korea Chung Eui-Yong shared recorded video messages on the occasion. In his video message, FM Wang mentioned that developing bilateral relations and friendly cooperation between South Korea and China is beneficial for the people of both states. In his message, Wang urged the experts on both sides to pour in their ideas and policy proposals so that the committee can work to lay down a framework of strong bilateral ties for the 30 coming years.

FM Chung, in his video speech, expressed his desire to enhance relations and ties with China to promote peace in the Korean peninsula. Chung called out South Korea and China as the two closest and important nations who will work for the establishment of peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
