ISLAMABAD, (TDI): In a significant policy shift, President Joe Biden hinted that Washington might soon lift restrictions on the use of US long-range missiles by Ukraine against Russia.
This potential change comes in response to persistent Ukrainian requests for greater flexibility in their defense efforts amid Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Currently, Ukrainian forces are constrained by limits on how they can deploy US-supplied weapons, a situation officials argue hampers their ability to effectively counter the Russian offensive.
Biden Hints to Lift Ban
If the restrictions are lifted, it would mark a major escalation in US support for Ukraine.
While Russia has not yet responded officially, President Vladimir Putin has previously warned that such a move could lead to “very serious problems,” suggesting potential heightened tensions and conflict.

In a related development, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy are in Kyiv for crucial talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The discussions aim to directly understand Ukraine’s needs and explore ways to enhance support from the US and UK.
During his visit to the UK, Blinken also accused Iran of supplying short-range ballistic missiles to Russia, a move he described as a “significant and dangerous escalation.”
This new arsenal could potentially increase Russia’s capacity to strike Ukrainian cities, both near the border and deeper within the country, further intensifying the conflict.
