Tokyo, 27 August 2021 (TDI): Shahana Hajiyeva, a female judoka, won Azerbaijan’s first gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Shahana Hajiyeva won gold in the Para Judo women’s 48 kg weight category. She grabbed the title after defeating her French opponent Sandrine Martinet in the final. Khazar Farhadov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, also congratulated Shahana Hajiyeva on winning the gold.
