Baku, 2 December 2022 (TDI): The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with the Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The agenda of the meeting between the two sides was to deliberate on issues pertaining to mutual interests as well as regional security.

The Pakistani delegation first paid respects to the memory of martyrs who gave their lives in defense of Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity by visiting the Alley of Martyrs and laying a wreath at the “Eternal Flame” memorial.

Minister Hasanov greeted the delegation and said he was happy to see them in Azerbaijan. He noted that the people of the two nations have long-standing ties of friendship and trust.

Likewise, a strategic partnership between Azerbaijan & Pakistan is growing. While Admiral Niazi on his part delivered the greetings of Pakistan’s Defense Minister and stressed the significance of such gatherings & shared interests in furthering bilateral ties.

During the meeting, the importance of developing both bilateral and trilateral joint military cooperation with participation from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Turkiye was highlighted.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides discussed future prospects for bilateral cooperation in the military, military-technical, and military-educational spheres, as well as other matters of shared interest.
