Worthy of note is the fact that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has remained at the core of the relationship between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
According to the United Nations Children’s Emergency Funds (UNICEF), the conflict has resulted in the displacement of around 90,000 people from Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020.
Furthermore, the effects of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict have spanned across many areas, such as the economy, socio-political stability, households, etc., both in Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The normalization process of the relations between both sides is also traceable to the 1 May 2023 discussion between the Foreign Ministers of both countries in Washington.
